Meet Dr. Moure

A well-regarded member of the medical community and a recipient of several honors and awards, Dr. Federico Castro-Moure has divided his career between patient care, teaching, and research. With more than 30 years of medical experience, Dr. Castro-Moure presently serves as a staff neurosurgeon at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California. He accepted this position in 2017 and has treated a range of neurological disorders during his tenure. In addition, Federico Castro-Moure, MD spent time practicing at Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, California.

An academic with a Ph.D. in Anatomy and Molecular Biology in addition to his medical degree, Dr. Castro-Moure has also served as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology and as an instructor in a gross anatomy dissection laboratory and was a professor at UCSF for 25 years. Concurrently, he taught and proctored surgery at UC Davis. Over the course of his career, Dr. Castro-Moure has lectured on anatomy and physiology, neuroanatomy, and the anatomy of the head and neck internationally.

Federico Castro-Moure, MD, also works to educate his colleagues and peers by presenting on his research findings at several dozen meetings and conferences traveling to such international locales as Jerusalem, Stockholm, Vancouver, and Ixtapa, Mexico. Furthermore, he presented posters at several meetings of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Association of Neurological Surgeons. Previously, Dr. Castro-Moure researched such topics as stereotactic intraoperative ultrasonography and endoscopic stereotactic interventions for the treatment of brain lesions. He completed a study sponsored by Pfizer, Inc., that assessed the efficacy and safety of a new medication to treat head injury. Most recently, he has been dedicated to the care of neurosurgical problems and patients serving the Northern California community and Mercy Medical Center.
